Pochino Press welcomes completed manuscripts on a rolling basis that fulfill our mission. All manuscripts should be addressed to Xiomara Castro, Managing Editor, P.O. Box 10635, Oakland, CA 94610. We attempt to meet an eight week deadline for responses to manuscripts.
Please first consider if your work resonates with the following statement:
"Pochino Press offers a multi-media stage for change makers and culture creators. Our mission is to publish works that illuminate stories, which originate in the intersections where hybrid cultures not only meet, but form a new sensibility."
We are less likely to respond positively or read work that does not match our mission or is incomplete. Manuscripts with numerous typos, inappropriate grammatical constructions, and themes which are not fully realized, will not be responded to. In considering grammatical constructions, we fully acknowledge and take into account work that is bi-lingual, multi-lingual, mixed language, contains loaned wording and code-switching when it is appropriate.
For the return of a manuscript, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope or mailer. Pochino Press does not provide postage for returning manuscripts.
We also accept electronic submissions in Microsoft Word and PDF formats. In the case of electronic (email) submissions, our turn-around schedule is the same as for hard-copy submissions, eight weeks. Please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you haven’t heard from us in eight weeks, email inquiries are appropriate for determining the status of your manuscript.
